Go Tell it on a Mountain

The kids are healthy, their bellies are full, and we thank God for both.

Christmas is approaching quickly. Last month I began asking friends and coworkers to help us provide yearly necessities for the kids. Shirts, pants, shoes, sleeping mats, and a good meal on Christmas day. Someday I pray they have a dorm to sleep in, one for boys and one for girls, and beds to get them off the floor. That is still in the future, I know, but we dream big and will make it happen. We still have a house to remodel first.

Tonny visited the house and land recently. He pays a local man to watch the place, keep the jungle at bay, and tend the banana trees, corn, and cassava. I had to look up cassava — a tubular root that can be high in nutrients if prepared properly. The land will grow anything and helps supplement their monthly food supply.

Please don’t be bashful. Ask others to partner with you, with us. It’s right to request help for others. Especially for kids, and more so to feed and house them. We’re not asking for video games and cell phones.

Don’t tell it on a mountain, shout it. Some will hear, some will not.

Happy Thanksgiving and God bless.
